"What a Scene"
-Goo Goo Dolls

When you're feeling all wrong in the back of your mind again
How does it feel
When you drop down everything's all the same
Oh yeah
Saccharine caffeine nicotine gum
Yeah it tastes sweet but it's not for long
And I just think you thought it would be
When you're looking for truth on the cover of a magazine
How does it feel
When you find out what you're not gonna be
Oh yeah
They give you your image and the things you believe
Open your eyes tell me what did you see
And I just think you thought it surreal
How does it feel when you're out on your own
And now it's too late to come home
And it's hard to be free when you're down on your knees
Take it easy till you make it alone
Now you're a supermarket punk rock television comedy
Out on the scene
Yeah I bit down now there's no hand to feed
Oh yeah
And all the beautiful images lining your walls
Pop radio screaming down the halls
Now you think you found something real
When it's all about money and the things that you need
Live a big lie and they all believe
Now I just find that somehow obscene
How does it feel when to be out on your own
And now it's too late to come home
And it's hard to be free when you're down on your knees
Take it easy till you make it alone
Take it easy till you make it alone
What a sceneYeah
It's all been said before
And all been done
Take it easy till you make it alone
Take it easy til you make it alone
Lies weigh more than truth
Innocence looks good on you
Now everybody wants to know your name
Na na na....

"What a Scene" by the Goo Goo Dolls has a societ message. It is about the everyday people that relie on "Saccharine caffeine nicotine gum" for a soothing feeling. Also, it talks about the average person who looks at a magazine and seeing stick skinny people and how we wish to look like them, but we wont. We all look at magazines to find truth and what we want to see. Also, the song is about how most people do what their told for a name, they do not make it on their own. We all hope that someone will tell us how to make it in life, never mind finding it on our own. When people become well known, or famous, they think that it is all real. Then these people focus on money and what they need. They lie and do what it takes to get to the top or stay there. People lie to make it far and then everyone wants to know who they are because of who they made themselves become due to the lies and everything else. This song is about love because he is singing or writing it to the one he loves.

"We'll be Here(When You're Gone)"
-Goo Goo Dolls

And through the fence I see a ghost
Of a place that used to breathe
You know it choked away the sun
But we still had food to eat
And now everyone is gone
To a place that won't be home
Can they keep their family strong?
Will they make it on their own?
And we'll be standing when you're gone
And we'll be heard again
We missed our chance but not for long
I know somehow we will hold on we'll be here
When you're gone
Then one day we realized
That they couldn't hear our voice
And it's so hard to understand
When it's caught up in the noise
But the ones who fight and die
Are the truth inside the lie
Now it's all built on our backs
And we struggle to survive
And we'll be standing when you're gone
And we'll be heard again
We missed our chance but not for long
I know somehow we will hold on we'll be here
When you're gone

The song "We'll Be Here" is about the society and love in a sense. It is talking about the past, and basically see a ghost of the past when everything was happy and nothing to really worry about. Many people are gone to war and going to a place that is not their home and will never be like home. He talks about how the family will be around when they are gone at war. They will be there trying to keep the family together because they can not while being in war. "Its hard to understand" why and what is happening. He claims that "But the ones who fight and dieAre the truth inside the lie". The dragged on war has a heavy impact on the everyone, mainly the families involved and that stays with them all day, everyday. The song also has to do with love because it is talking about the love for the person when they're gone, and the missings of them kind of.

Imagery 2

"Echo"

There's something about the look in your eyes
Something I noticed when the light was just right
It reminded me twice that I was alive
And it reminded me that you're so worth the fight
My biggest fear will be the rescue of me
Strange how it turns out that way
Could you show me dear
Something I've not seen
Something infinitely interesting
Could you show me dear
Something I've not seen
Something infinitely interesting
There's something about the way you move
I see your mouth in slow motion when you sing
More subtle than something someone contrives
Your movements echo that
I have seen the real thing
Your biggest fear will be the rescue of you
Strange how it turns out that way
Could you show me dear
Something I've not seen
Something infinitely interesting
Could you show me dear
Something I've not seen
Something infinitely interesting

This song is about a guy that is explaining his love for a girl and how she makes him feel. He explains the way she is and what that means to him. What he describes about her gives the reader images of what he is talking about. When he talks about the "look in [her] eyes" "the way [she] moves" and the "way [her] mouth moves when [she] sings". These lines create imagery.

Imagery

"I miss you"

To see you when
I wake up
Is a gift I didnt think could be real.
To know that you feel the same as I do
Is a three-fold, utopian dream.
You do something to me that I cant explain.
So would I be out of line if I said,
I miss you.
I see your picture,
I smell your skin on the empty pillow next to mine.
You have only been gone ten days,
but already Im wasting away.
I know Ill see you again
Whether far or soon.
But I need you to know that I care
And I miss you.

"I miss you" by Incubus contains a metaphor stating that knowing she feels the same as he does is a three fold utopian dream. He is comparing her loving him to something beautiful and almost unrealistic, as in a dream. The song is about a guy loving a girl but they seem to have seperated and he explains how he misses her and cares for her and will see her sometime again.

"I Miss You" contains imagery in the line "is a three fold utopian dream". This gives us the image of something beautiful and romantic. Also, almost unrealistic and amazing.
